Oscar Madeddu, International Finance Corporation

Oscar Madeddu is an IFC’s financial specialist, providing Technical Assistance in LAC markets for the development of a solid credit risk management and information sharing infrastructure.  In IFC since 2004.
He has 27 years’ of successful corporate management,  project management & business development, directly and indirectly inside the credit and financial industry, spent in multinational environments both as a banker in numerous credit institutions and as a consultant working for leading credit risk and information management with particular focus on retail credit management, up to the position of Managing Director.Briefly, his key experiences include:

• Senior management: Consumer Credit Lending (India), 1998-2003:  CEO - Managing Director and member of the Board of Directors of  FISAF LTD the Indian consumer lending operations of Fiat Auto. Oscar has established and managed the JV for 5 successful years, setting up the company from green-field and supplying a booming Indian car market with retail car-finance loans, dealer and supplier financing services; as well as other retail financial services.

• Retail Risk Management (France, Italy, UK) 1991-1998: Pioneering and intensive contribution to the modernization of credit risk management and information sharing industry (credit scoring, Credit Bureaus) in Europe. Among the major achievements is the development of two credit bureaus in Italy, as well as the initial dissemination of scoring and retail portfolio risk management techniques with Experian (Country Manager Italy), STEF (Italian CB JV between  Trans Union & Fair Isaac for the development of the second Italian credit bureau).

• Banking (Italy - USA) 1978-1990: over 10 years of 360 degrees exposure to all banking activities, gaining thorough knowledge of all the various aspects of the credit industry - corporate and retail credit, forex, securities, factoring, leasing and sales & marketing inside Unicredit, BofA, Deutsche Bank, United California Bank.  Oscar has also worked with Reuters PLC, in training banks and financial institutions to use financial information (securities and forex real-time deals).

• Residential  work experiences in: Brazil, India, Italy, France, US, Morocco

• Oscar studied in Italy, at the Technical Institute for Commerce and Finance and at the Faculty of Modern Foreign Languages of the Genoa University in Italy.
