| Getting
to Bergamo |
The
city of Bergamo is situated 28 miles (46 km) northeast
of Milan
There
are 3 airports that you can use to get to Bergamo.
The best option is to arrive at the Bergamo
Orio al Serio – International Airport (BGY)
which is right outside of Bergamo. There are two
airports around Milan that you can also use: the
Milano-Linate Airport (LIN), and
the Milano Malpensa Airport (MXP).
It is better to fly into Milano-Linate
airport because it is closer to Bergamo and transportation
is more direct.
If you come into the Bergamo airport, you will just
take a short bus or taxi trip to the center of Bergamo.
If you arrive at the Milano-Linate or the Milano
Malpensa Airport, you will need to take a train
from Milan to Bergamo.
Arriving
at Bergamo Orio al Serio – International Airport
(BGY)
www.sacbo.it/Airpor/portalProcess.jspThis
airport is situated 3 miles (5km) from the Center
of town. Brussels airlines (Connects in Brussels)
and Alitalia (via Rome) offer flights to this airport
as well as some other low-cost carriers. If you decide
to arrive at this airport, you will most likely have
an extra connection.
From this airport, you can take a bus (approx. €
2 pounds) or a short taxi (approx. € 15-20 Euros)
to Bergamo city center.
Arriving
at Milano Linate Airport (LIN)
www.sea-aeroportimilano.it/en/linateThis
airport is about 25 miles (40 km) from Bergamo. There
are several airlines that use Milano Linate
such as KLM (via Amsterdam), Brittish Airways
(via London), and Alitalia (via Rome). Once you arrive
at Milano Linate airport, you can take a bus or taxi
to Milano Stazione Centrale (Milano
Central Station). This takes approximately 20 minutes.
Then you can take a train to Bergamo Railway
Station (SEE BELOW FOR TRAIN INFO).
Arriving
at Milano Malpensa Airport (MXP)
www.sea-aeroportimilano.it/en/malpensaThis
airport is situated outside of Milano, about 47 miles
(75km) from Bergamo. This airport is the most international
of the three airports. Many of the major airlines
use this airport such as Continental (via Newark),
American Airlines (via JFK), United (via Frankfurt),
Delta (Via Atlanta, JFK), and more. When you arrive
at Malpensa airport, you will need to take a bus to
Milano Stazione Centrale (Milano
Central Station) and then the train to Bergamo
Railway Station (SEE BELOW FOR TRAIN INFO).
Take
Bus to Milano Central Station:
You will most likely arrive in Terminal 1 which is
where most of the international flights arrive. You
will need to take a bus called the Malpensa
Shuttle Air Pullman (from Terminal 1 or 2)
to Milano Stazione Centrale (Milano
Central Station). Be sure that it goes to Centrale,
NOT Cadorna Station. Buses leave the airport
to Centrale every 20 minutes from
6am to midnight every day. The trip takes approximately
50 minutes and the cost is approximately
€ 5 EurosNote: You can also
get to Central Station using the train, however, we
do not advise that you do this because it takes about
the same amount of time and you will need to take
the train to Cadorna Station and then the metro to
Milano Stazione Centrale.
By
TRAIN:
From
Milano Stazione Centrale (Milano Central Station)
You will need to take a train from Milano
Stazione Centrale to Bergamo Railway
Station. The trains run every hour from 7:20am
to 11:40pm (except for a gap from 8:43am to 11:20am).
For more detailed information, see the timetable of
the Italian Railway Company at www.trenitalia.it
(information is available in English). The cost is
approximately € 5 Euros (€
6 Euros in 1st class)
